Premiere 'Nocturne' by Jelmer de Moed and Rik Kuppen

On 14 January 2026, Nocturne by Mathilde Wantenaar will be premiered by Jelmer de Moed and Rik Kuppen in TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht.

"There is no stronger bond than that between music and literature. What cannot be captured in words can be expressed in music—and vice versa. With A Lyrical Intermezzo, clarinetist Jelmer de Moed, pianist Rik Kuppen, and poet Maud Vanhauwaert present a beautiful program in which music and poetry, both past and present, reinforce each other.

Both composers and poets are true sound painters. Where the two art forms intersect, pure magic is born. The lyricism of Schumann and Brahms beautifully complements Heine's romantic approach, while the contemporary works of Jeths and Wantenaar resonate with the fresh poetry of Maud Vanhauwaert. The Flemish poet and accomplished performer accompanies the musicians on stage."
